Who we are
Founded in 1963, The Landsmannschaft der Siebenbürger Sachsen in Kanada is the umbrella organization for Transylvanian Saxons living in Canada, including the Saxonia Hall in Aylmer, Ontario and the Transylvania Club in Kitchener, Ontario. The Landsmannschaft maintains and provides cultural connections between Saxons within and outside of Canada and acts as a representative to government organizations. We strive to preserve the Transylvanian Saxon heritage, customs, traditions and language.
What we do
Celebrating Shared History
For over 50 years, the Landsmannschaft has been the biannual host of the summer North American Heimattag or “Homeland Days” celebration between Saxons in Canada and the United States of America.
Engaging Youth
In 1971, the Canadian Landsmannschaft initiated the first International Youth Exchange (Jugendlager) between Federation countries. The Jugendlager continues to be a part of the Saxon youth experience in Canada.
Promoting Culture and Tradition
Since 1968, the Landsmannschaft has hosted and participated in the biannual Kulturaustausch, or “Cultural Exchange,” between Saxon groups from around the world.
